What is a Preference

Example: Eric wants to learn more about coffee via a weekly email.

Whenever you tell a business what kind of information you want, you are sharing a preference. For example, telling a coffee roaster that you want information about coffee is a preference.

Telling a business how you want to receive that information is also a preference. For example, telling a coffee roaster that you want to receive information about coffee via email is a preference.

Finally, telling a business how often you want to hear about something is also a preference. For example, telling a coffee roaster that you want weekly emails about coffee is a preference.

Sharing preferences ensures that you receive useful information from businesses. This is good for you (learn about coffee!) and good for the business (sell more coffee!). Preferences also ensure that you receive information the way you want it and only as often as you want it.
